Description

Welcome to the Wandering Elk Cabin. This mountain home has 3 bedrooms and a king/full suite in the finished basement, 3 full bathrooms, a fireplace, 3 decks, and 2 living rooms.

When you walk in, you’ll be greeted by our soaring chalet living room windows looking out at the pine forest. It’s a wonderful room with a wood-burning fireplace, 65″ Roku TV, lots of games and seating for your group. Off the living room is the main deck with lots of seating and a propane fire table. There are 2 queen bedrooms and a full bathroom between them. One of the bedrooms has a Roku TV.

The kitchen is on the main floor and is completely stocked with everything you need to make great meals. Everyone loves sitting around the large hand-crafted dining table that seats your entire group. In the summer there is outdoor seating for al fresco dining.

In the walk-out basement below, there is a big sectional sofa, a pool table and another 65″ Roku TV. Around the corner is a sleeping area with a king bed and a full bed. There is also a wet bar with a sink. The laundry room is in the basement, with an additional refrigerator. From the basement, you can walk out the French doors to another ground-level patio with seating.

The top floor has the primary bedroom and a library loft, with French doors out to another balcony. The primary bedroom has a large Roku TV on a rolling stand to move to the foot of your bed for relaxing and watching movies.

Important: Before you arrive, you will be asked to complete info for a damage waiver through third-party provider Superhog. They will contact you via email and/or text to complete the process. Please do so prior to arriving at the property to enable a quick and easy check-in. There is a $35 fee, but you are protected for up to $500 in accidental damage.

After that, you will receive our digital guest guidebook app that you can add to your phone screen. It has lots of info about the cabin, including amenities, instructions, wifi, safety and rules, and communication with the host. You’ll also find an entire Local Area Attractions section, so you’ll know where to eat, the best hikes, shopping, and day trips.

You are free to contact the host (Debbie) for anything that you can’t find in the guidebook.

Pine is a small mountain community about 100 miles from the Phoenix metro area. There is a quaint commercial area on the main highway, with shops and restaurants.

The Wandering Elk A-Frame Cabin shares the quaint village feel of Pine, and our 20 foot A-frame windows bring the beauty of the outdoors into the great room. We try to stay here a few days a week when we’re not opening up the house to guests, so we’ve purchased the most comfortable beds and bedding, quality amenities, and a fully stocked kitchen that’s perfect for culinary enthusiasts.

Our hope is that you’re vacation at Wandering Elk Cabin will calm your concerns, put your family first and enjoy Pine’s great restaurants, unique outdoor attractions and abundant wildlife

Debbie Burney

When I was a child, my Dad’s idea of family fun was to take long, Cowboy & Indian and Pony Express themed drives through the wild west of Arizona. Pine and Payson, (home of the longest continuous Rodeo in the United States) were the halfway point to our family’s favorite watering hole at Oak Creek Canyon. We could always anticipate a stop at the East Verde River or Tonto Natural Bridge for a picnic, before heading to the curvy, crowded campgrounds near the bottom of Oak Creek Canyon. Don’t get me wrong, I still love the drive through scenic Oak Creek Canyon as you pop out among the red rocks of Sedona. It’s magical, but, as busy as it was in the 60’s, today it’s busier, congested and expensive. Pine, on the other hand, hasn’t changed much in 50 years: the scent of the Junipers is reminiscent of that earlier time and at night, you’ll be mesmerized by a celestial blanket, dotted with bright planets and stars. The cricket’s song is nonstop, the air is clean and crisp, and you’ll wish you’d planned for a longer visit.
